Eccoci qui a commentare questa trasferta francese a ST Agreve la quale è stata molto buona per noi. Non lontano da Nimes, quindi è stato bello avere i nostri “capi” francesi a supportarci per tutto il weekend. Sono tornati a casa felici.
Gara fantastica in una location fantastica, tantissima gente, migliaia di appassionati, moto da tutte le parti, alla faccia di chi ci vuole male. Tantissimi giovani super gasati, con il motorino al posto dello smartphone, una gioia immensa per i miei occhi. Una gara da ripetere ogni anno, se fosse per noi. Una vera festa dell’enduro, musica a palla, ettolitri di birra, sabato sera da paura. Come dovrebbe sempre essere. Spero che i vertici FIM e Promoter abbiano visto quello che abbiamo visto noi e abbiano segnato sul taccuino.
I nostri sono stati tutti all’altezza, con attimi di vera “paura” e con una bella sorpresa.
Holcombe: Ha segnato una bella doppietta in E3, la quale l’ha riportato in testa alla classifica. Ma siccome quest’anno non ci facciamo mancare niente con lui… sabato, in piena bagarre per l’assoluta una cappottata a 200 metri dalla fine del secondo enduro test, in quarta piena… poteva costarci caro. Moto in aria 3 o 4 metri, lui per terra un paio di secondi, poi qualcuno ha guardato giù. Botta di culo e via. Da lì, un po’ di gestione in più. Adesso focus sull’obiettivo di stagione.
Macdonald: Ancora una volta molto solido, sabato un pelino in difficoltà, domenica gara da campione, con uno splendido secondo posto in E2. E’ sempre più vicino ai magnifici 4 dell’assoluta, secondo me ci arriva. Da inizio anno un bel miglioramento, sempre più pirla, ma sempre più efficace. Ha fatto breccia nel pubblico francese, non è facile.
Roussaly: Ecco la sorpresa. Questo ragazzo, in sordina, sta migliorando in maniera esponenziale. Due podi in E3 senza problemi. Il quinto posto assoluto di sabato, NON una cosa scontata, suo migliore risultato di sempre. Segnatevi questo nome.
Magain: Il nostro piccolo belga, questo giro era un po’ cotto, di sicuro il suo livello è un altro, come dimostrato ad inizio stagione. Rush finale per il podio in E1, poi un po’ di riposo gli farà bene. Lo aspettiamo.
Il tempo di rientrare, preparare tutto e pronti per il rush finale in Galles, per questa strana stagione in “apnea”. Un altro calendario così in futuro, e sarò pronto a gesti estremi!

So here we are, reflecting on our trip to Saint-Agrève in France, an event that turned out really well for us. It wasn’t far from Nîmes, so it was great having our French “bosses” there to support us all weekend; they went home happy.
It was a fantastic race in a fantastic setting, huge crowds, thousands of enthusiasts, and bikes everywhere, sticking it to the naysayers. There were so many super-hyped young people with mopeds instead of smartphones; it was a sheer joy to see. If it were up to us, we’d do this race every year. It was a true celebration of enduro: blasting music, hectoliters of beer, and an epic Saturday night. Just the way it should always be. I hope the FIM top brass and the promoters saw what we saw and took note.
Our team really rose to the occasion, with moments of genuine “fear” and a lovely surprise.
Holcombe: He scored a great double win in the E3 class, putting him back at the top of the standings. But, since there’s never a dull moment with him, on Saturday, right in the thick of the battle for the overall win, he took a massive tumble just 200 meters from the end of the second enduro test while pinned in fourth gear… it could have cost us dearly. The bike went three or four meters up in the air, he was down on the ground for a couple of seconds, and then someone was looking out for him. A stroke of pure luck, and he was off again. From that point on, he managed the race a bit more carefully. Now, the focus is on the season’s main goal.
Macdonald: Once again very solid, he struggled a little bit on Saturday, but delivered a champion’s performance on Sunday, taking a brilliant second place in the E2 class. He is getting closer and closer to the “Big 4” of the overall standings, I think he’ll get there. He has improved significantly since the start of the year; he’s becoming an even bigger goofball, yet increasingly effective. He has won over the French crowd, no easy feat.
Roussaly: Here’s the surprise. This young rider is quietly making exponential progress. Two podiums in the E3 class, achieved without a hitch. A fifth-place finish overall on Saturday, by no means a given, marking his best result ever. Remember this name.
Magain: Our little Belgian was a bit spent this time around; he’s certainly capable of performing at a higher level, as he demonstrated earlier in the season. One final push for the E1 podium, and then a bit of rest will do him good. We look forward to seeing him back.
Time to get back, get everything ready, and gear up for the final push in Wales, for this strange, breathless season. If there’s another schedule like this in the future, I’ll be ready to take drastic measures!
