Una bella gara quella finlandese, in cui magari mancava un enduro test un po’ più ” tipico”, ma nulla da eccepire agli organizzatori.
Un grande Steve Holcombe, 31enne britannico , sigla una grande doppietta nella classe E3, malgrado una forte caduta nella prima PS di sabato, che sarebbe potuta andare molto peggio.
Malgrado la botta, una grossa dose di antidolorifici ha aiutato a finire le 2 giornate in modo decente… Adesso siamo a soli 4 punti dalla vetta, dopo la sfortunata trasferta spagnola, con quello “zero” sanguinoso che grida ancora vendetta. Con lui, in questo inizio anno, la Dea Bendata non è stata molto gentile, ma stiamo lavorando per avvicinarci sempre di più alle posizioni che Steve si merita.
Ottimo Hamish Mcdonald, con due terzi posti in entrambe le giornate, rafforza la sua terza posizione nella classifica mondiale della E2. Un ottimo crescendo, dopo un inizio di stagione un po’ opaco. Alcune soluzioni tecniche più ottimali per lui, lo hanno aiutato a risalire un po’ di posizioni. Anche lui si è centrato un po’ meglio, cominciamo a rivedere l’Hamish che ci piace.
Magain, il belga di Sherco. non nella sua forma migliore, troppe cadute su questo terreno il quale evidentemente non gli piaceva molto. Comunque un podio sabato, può farci sorridere. In piena corsa per la piazza d’onore della E1, aspettiamo terreni a lui più congeniali.
Due ottimi quarti posti per il francese di Sherco, Roussaly, entrambe le giornate ad un soffio dal podio. Il ragazzo continua la sua crescita, la sua maturità enduristica prende sempre più forma.
Quindi ottima trasferta per il Team, come dicevo prima, sperando che la sfiga un po’ marcata che ci ha accompagnato fino ad adesso, sia finalmente alle spalle.
Il tempo di tornare per preparare sia la gara classifica francese “Trefle Lozerien” con Holcombe, sia per la prossima tappa di mondiale che si svolgerà a Fafe, Portogallo, fra 3 settimane. Un calendario serrato che non permette soste. Onestamente un po’ troppo quest’anno, ne abbiamo già parlato sia con FIM che con Promoter. Sembra sia stata una scelta per dare spazio alla Sei Giorni del centenario… speriamo sia così.

Great weekend for Team Sherco CH racing, at the 5th and 6th rounds of the world enduro championship.
The Finnish race was a great one, perhaps lacking a more “typical” enduro test, but the organizers have no complaints.
A great Steve Holcombe, 31 years old, from Britain, scored a great double in the E3 class, despite a heavy crash on Saturday’s first special stage, which could have gone much worse.
Despite the blow, a hefty dose of painkillers helped us finish the two days decently… We’re now just four points off the top, after the unfortunate Spanish trip, with that bloody “zero” still crying out for vengeance. Lady Luck hasn’t been very kind to him this early in the year, but we’re working to get closer and closer to the positions Steve deserves.
Hamish McDonald performed well, with two third-place finishes on both days, strengthening his third- place position in the E2 world rankings. This was a great performance after a somewhat lackluster start to the season. Some more optimal technical solutions helped him move up a few positions. He also focused a bit more; we’re starting to see the Hamish we like again.
Magain, Sherco’s Belgian, isn’t in top form, with too many crashes on this terrain, which he clearly didn’t like. However, a podium finish on Saturday should make us smile. With the race for second place in the E1 class in full swing, we’re waiting for more suitable terrain.
Two excellent fourth-place finishes for Sherco’s Frenchman, Roussaly, both days just shy of the podium. The young man continues to grow, his enduro maturity taking shape.
So, a great trip for the team, as I said before, hoping that the somewhat marked bad luck that has plagued us up to now is finally behind us.
Time to return to prepare for both the French classification race “Trefle Lozerien” with Holcombe, and for the next round of the world championship, which will take place in Fafe, Portugal, in three weeks. A tight schedule that allows for no breaks. Honestly, a bit too much this year; we’ve already discussed it with both the FIM and the Promoter. It seems to have been a choice to make room for the centenary Six Days… let’s hope so.
