Il Team Lunigiana Enduro con il main partner Mauri Trafileria Acciai, ha affrontato a Caltanissetta la propria prima prova nazionale a pieno regime, archiviando un fine settimana utile per proseguire il lavoro di crescita iniziato soltanto pochi giorni prima con il debutto mondiale di Charlie Chater.
Per la squadra guidata da Gianni Belloni, il 2026 è stato infatti condizionato già alla vigilia della stagione dal cambio di programma del pilota inizialmente selezionato, che ha scelto di passare a un’altra struttura poco prima del via del campionato. Una situazione che non ha lasciato il tempo necessario per individuare un sostituto adeguato per l’inizio degli Assoluti d’Italia. Per questo motivo, la stagione del Team Lunigiana è di fatto cominciata solo la settimana scorsa, con il debutto dell’inglese Charlie Chater nel Mondiale Enduro, sempre in Sicilia.
La concomitanza tra il round iridato e la terza prova degli Assoluti d’Italia, disputata a distanza di pochi giorni sempre sull’isola, ha offerto al team l’occasione ideale per proseguire il lavoro appena avviato. Chater è così rimasto in Sicilia per continuare a prendere confidenza con la squadra, consolidare l’affiatamento con il gruppo e accumulare esperienza anche nel campionato italiano.
SUBITO A CONFRONTO CON I GRANDI
A Caltanissetta, il giovane pilota britannico ha scelto di misurarsi con alcuni dei protagonisti più esperti e affermati della specialità a livello assoluto, affrontando fin dal Supertest del venerdì la categoria più impegnativa, quella riservata ai piloti stranieri, senza distinzione di cilindrata.
Per Chater si è trattato di un banco di prova particolarmente severo, ma proprio per questo utile nel percorso di inserimento all’interno del Team Lunigiana e più in generale in una dimensione agonistica di alto livello. La gara siciliana ha rappresentato infatti la prima vera occasione per affrontare, in ambito nazionale, un weekend completo con la squadra finalmente schierata in modo strutturato.
I RISULTATI DEL WEEKEND
Nel Supertest del venerdì, Charlie Chater ha chiuso al 34° posto assoluto e al 15° tra gli stranieri.
Nella giornata di sabato ha concluso al 48° posto assoluto, confermandosi 15° nella classifica riservata agli stranieri.
Anche domenica il pilota inglese ha mantenuto un rendimento regolare, terminando al 47° posto assoluto e ancora al 15° posto tra gli stranieri.
Due risultati che hanno consentito a Chater di conquistare i primi due punti stagionali nel campionato, dando così al Team Lunigiana Enduro i primi riscontri concreti di un progetto partito in ritardo, ma già entrato nella sua fase operativa.
LE PAROLE DI CHARLIE
«Il weekend mi ha consentito di continuare a conoscere meglio il team e lavorare sulla continuità. Dopo il Mondiale, restare in Sicilia per correre anche gli Assoluti d’Italia è stata una scelta utile, perché mi ha permesso di fare altra esperienza e di confrontarmi ancora con piloti di alto livello. Sappiamo che c’è ancora molto lavoro da fare, ma ogni gara aiuta a migliorare il feeling e a capire dove intervenire.»
UN PRIMO PASSO IN AVANTI
Al di là delle classifiche, il fine settimana di Caltanissetta ha confermato l’utilità di questa scelta. Restare in Sicilia dopo il Mondiale si è rivelato importante per dare continuità al lavoro, aumentare il feeling tra pilota e squadra e affrontare in rapida successione due contesti agonistici diversi, ma ugualmente formativi.
Per il Team Lunigiana, che ha dovuto reinventare il proprio programma a stagione praticamente iniziata, il doppio impegno siciliano ha rappresentato molto più di una semplice trasferta: è stato il vero punto di partenza di un nuovo percorso tecnico e sportivo.

«Per noi Caltanissetta è stata la prima vera gara nazionale affrontata con il team finalmente operativo. Dopo quanto era successo prima dell’inizio della stagione, non è stato semplice rimettere insieme il programma in tempi brevi, ma queste due gare in Sicilia ci hanno permesso di cominciare davvero il nostro percorso. Charlie ha accettato di misurarsi in un contesto molto impegnativo, contro piloti di esperienza internazionale, e ha portato a casa due punti che per noi hanno un valore importante, perché rappresentano un primo passo concreto su cui continuare a lavorare.»

TEAM LUNIGIANA ENDURO TAKES ITS FIRST ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS IN CALTANISSETTA (SICILY) WITH CHARLIE CHATER
Team Lunigiana Enduro tackled its first full national event in Caltanissetta, completing a weekend that proved valuable in continuing the development work that had only started a few days earlier with Charlie Chater’s World Championship debut.
For the team managed by Gianni Belloni, the 2026 season had already been disrupted before it really began, after the rider originally selected for the programme chose to join another team on the eve of the opening round. That left no real chance to find a suitable replacement in time for the start of the Italian Absolute Enduro Championship. As a result, Team Lunigiana’s season officially began only a week earlier, when British rider Charlie Chater made his debut in the Enduro World Championship, also in Sicily.
With the third round of the Italian Championship taking place just a few days later, again in Sicily, the team took the opportunity to continue the work that had just begun. Chater therefore remained on the island in order to build further experience, strengthen his relationship with the team and continue adapting to a new racing environment.
Straight into deep waters
In Caltanissetta, the young British rider chose to measure himself against many internationally established riders, competing from the Friday Supertest all the way to the final special test on Sunday in the toughest category of the event, the one reserved for foreign riders, regardless of engine capacity.
For Chater, it was a particularly demanding challenge, but for that very reason also an important step in his integration within Team Lunigiana and, more broadly, in his adaptation to a high-level racing context. The Sicilian event marked the team’s first real opportunity to complete a full Italian Championship weekend with its new line-up finally in place.
Weekend results
In the Friday Supertest, Charlie Chater finished 34th overall and 15th among the foreign riders.
On Saturday, he placed 48th overall, again finishing 15th in the foreign riders’ classification.
On Sunday, the British rider maintained a consistent pace, ending the day 47th overall and once more 15th among the foreign riders.
These two race results allowed Chater to score his first two championship points of the season, giving Team Lunigiana Enduro its first concrete reward in a campaign that had started later than expected, but has now fully entered its competitive phase.

«It was another important weekend for me to continue getting to know the team better and to keep working on consistency. After the World Championship round, staying in Sicily to race the Italian Championship as well was a useful decision because it allowed me to gain more experience and to compete again against high-level riders. We know there is still a lot of work to do, but every race helps us improve the feeling and understand where we need to focus.»
A base to build on
Beyond the standings, the weekend in Caltanissetta confirmed the value of this decision.. Staying in Sicily after the World Championship round proved important in giving continuity to the work, increasing the understanding between rider and team, and facing two different but equally demanding racing contexts in quick succession.
For Team Lunigiana, which had to reshape its programme with the season already underway, the double Sicilian commitment meant much more than just another trip: it became the true starting point of a new technical and sporting path.
